Find A Relaxing Resort Vacation
Vail, Colorado. Cancún, Mexico. Capri, Italy. Whether your dream vacation involves skiing, sunbathing or wine tasting, resorts can offer the perfect getaway at the perfect price.
More than just fancy hotels, resorts are self-contained vacation destinations. Resorts offer a variety of amenities, such as food, drink, lodging, relaxation, sports, entertainment and shopping. Resort towns up the ante. Here, tourism rules the local economy, and the entire area is your playground!
Given the dizzying array of resorts, it can be difficult to plan your resort vacation. Where to start?
When planning your resort vacation, think of your interests. What do you see yourself doing over vacation – skiing, hiking, clubbing, sunbathing, sightseeing? Do you prefer the sun or the snow? Do you enjoy low-key, locally-inspired activities or do you thrive in crowds? Choose a resort that suits your personality and interests.
Once you’ve narrowed your search, shop around for a resort that will offer the most perks for the least money. All-inclusive resorts charge a fixed fee for a variety of amenities, as well as the “extras” such as entertainment and drinks. These are becoming increasingly rare, however; more common are resorts that charge a flat fee for the basics (food and lodging) and extra for the luxuries.
In addition to the activities, you should also consider your lodging. After all, your vacation won’t be much fun if your room looks like a hostel! Before making your reservations, hop online and research the hotel. A number of websites allow users to rate hotels and vacation experiences. Some even offer professional reviews. Log on and read up on other tourists’ stays – the good, the bad and the ugly.
Remember, you only get one (maybe two!) vacations a year – so plan wisely. Don’t find yourself wishing you’d just stayed at home!
